Farmer Hat Arrangement

Here is how this was made.
  • Take one plant hat basket and turn the brim up all around.
  • Cut out the plastic liner.
  • Turn over and cut out just the top of the hat. Leave a little lip around the top of the hat.
  • Glue (craft glue) around the cut opening on the inside to keep it from unraveling.
  • Take a 6" liner and just trim the lip off of it.
  • Hot glue the liner to the inside of the hat.
  • Hot glue the dry foam into the liner. Allow to dry.
  • Add water and arrange the flowers as you please.
A friend had a great suggestion to cut and fray the brim too.

Faux clay pot designs

This arrangement has a faux clay pot in it.

This too are faux clay pots.
Here is how they were done.
  • Take an empty plastic pot that you had a plant in .
  • If they are not terra cotta color, ruff up the plastic and spray terra cotta color. I did this with the bigger clay pot in the first and second picture.
  • Once dry (or before painting)  cut the bottom out of the pot. This gives you a full opening for adding flowers.
  • Prepare your holding container with foam and water.
  • Press the faux clay pots into the foam. For interest set them at an angle. Be sure not to press too far into foam so you don't lose that they are clay pots.
  • You can use different size pots in an arrangement (like picture one and two) or the same ones lined up (like picture three).
  • Now fill with flowers of your choice. These are done in fall colors but would look great too done in spring pastels or summers brights.
  • The addition of birds or butterflies emote the feeling of a field of flowers.

Where expression of love begins and blooms

A man came in to buy flowers for his wife a while back. He knew what he wanted to "say via the blooms". He looked and looked at the flowers then asked me if the ones he chose were OK. I said, they come from you so they are beautiful.

He came in a few months later and said he wanted to ask me a question. His question was; "Why when a man brings flowers home to his wife that she says, oh you wasted money they will only die". I so felt sorry for him but especially her. Love offerings from your loved one(s) are not to be verbally tossed aside.

My response to him was to continue to send flowers and tell her that this is the way I show you how much I love you.

It worked because he came in again and said she no longer took his tokens of his love as useless and frivolous.
